New England NCSY Celebrates 50 Years

New England NCSY will mark their 50th year of inspiring thousands of Jewish teens with “Memories and Moments” – a community-wide celebration on Sunday, February 12, at the Hilton Boston Logan Airport beginning at 6:30p.m.
NCSY is the international youth movement of the Orthodox Union.
Charlie Harary, founder of Milvado Inc., will address the audience with his captivating insights while discussing “The Jewish X-Factor” and comedic actress Marion Hermes-Fine will deliver a special performance for woman. Hors d’oeuvres begin at 6:30pm followed by a dessert reception.
Rabbi Shmuel Miller, Regional Director of New England NCSY, said, "I gained such insight and perspective by speaking with past Regional Directors and alumni in preparation for our 50th Anniversary Celebration. It is truly an honor to be a link in the 5 decades that New England NCSY has inspired and engaged Jewish teens from all walks of life."
In the past nine years since Rabbi Miller became Regional Director, New England NCSY has proudly expanded its reach to more than 500 public school teens and sent more than 100 teens to study in Israel for the year. Currently partnering with seven communities, NCSY actively engages 380 Jewish teens throughout Newton, Brookline, Framingham, Marlborough, Waltham, Lexington and Sharon, MA; West Hartford and Stamford, CT; and Providence, RI.
Joel Paul, the first Regional Director of New England NCSY, reflected, “Fifty years ago, the Region was founded to revitalize the spark in Jewish youth. Religious synagogues existed, but it was primarily filled with senior citizens. Jewish day schools existed, but with limited enrollment. Thus, NCSY was brought in to change the future and 50 years later, we proudly note that New England NCSY has thousands of alumni living Jewish lives and helping to spread our heritage throughout the world.”
